Christmas Recital by Expression Class at Gym Auditorium

The Expression Class presents The Doctor of Lonesome Folk a Christmas pantomime with Dickens era costumes. Intermediate pupils close with The Court of King Christmas. Monday night December 18 at the Gym Auditorium admission will be charged due to royalties.

Death of George Matula 84 in Hallettsville

George Matula aged 84 years 9 months 11 days died in Hallettsville on Tuesday and will be buried there today. He was the father of Mrs. W. J. Fehrenkamp and is survived by other relatives. Sympathy is extended to the family.

Mrs. John Valis Sr. Dies In Shiner At 79

Mrs. John Valis Sr. of Shiner died last Friday at 9 p m aged 79 years 2 months and 5 days Her life touched many with kindness and devotion Her funeral was held Sunday from her daughter's home with Requiem High Mass at Sts Cyril and Methodius Church Interment followed at the Catholic cemetery Survivors include two sons John Jr and Joe Valis two daughters Mrs Jim Kral and Mrs T J Husinecky 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren The family extends deep sympathy.

John Deere Day A Grand Success

The John Deere Day event drew about 700 registrants, with one attendee per family, in Dallas. P Thompson and Frank Tarpley assisted Emil Hajek in presenting the program, featuring talking pictures and field demonstrations of the latest John Deere implements. The Hajek Implement and Supply Company will service and repair all sold machinery, and refreshments were enjoyed by all.

Wreck at Lutheran church corner injures driver

A Model A coupe driven by Lorraine Osborn and a Chevrolet sedan driven by John Werner collided near the Lutheran church Tuesday evening. Osborn suffered cuts and bruises and remains in the local hospital. Werner was uninjured. Both cars were badly damaged.

Car Wreck Near Moulton Injures Von Beckmanns Party

A Schulze car returning from Schulenburg turned over near Moulton after veering to avoid another vehicle. Miss Hertha von Beckmann suffered a broken arm and several bruises, while the others escaped serious injury. Von Beckmann and his sister reside in Austin and were visiting. The car sustained heavy damage.

St Ludmila PTA Holiday Store Set for December 9

The annual country store sponsored by St. Ludmila's P T A will be held December 9 at the Koch building beside the Gazette office. It offers eggs sausages bacon lard noodles cakes dressed chickens and dressed turkeys plus fancy work like cup towels pillow cases scarves aprons children's dresses bonnets and pot holders. Visitors are invited to browse the fancy work and buy gifts for friends.

Hand Injury At Local Market Grinders Leaves Worker Finger Loss

Leo Kuykendall, a colored employee at the local oil mill and occasional helper at Hajek's Meat Market, suffered severe injury when his left hand was caught in a meat grinder on Tuesday morning. He lost all fingers and part of the hand, received hospital care, and is reported to be doing well.
