Field Scout Executive E C Newman visited the city Monday bearing a letter from Chief Scout Executive James E West of New York. The letter commends a speech by Chairman Arthur Kasper to Scouts and committeemen at the last Court of Honor as so excellent it will be incorporated into Scouting training activities.
Members of the local Farmers League will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday December 5 at 7 30 p m Election of officers will be held and the financial statement for the past year will be read along with explanations of new rulings and changes for 1940
The Expression Recital for December will be presented at the Gym auditorium Monday night December 18.
Last Sunday November 19 marked the 25th anniversary of Mr. K Spoetzl's operation of the Shiner Brewery. He has built Shiner on the map with Shiner Beer, providing employment and pride to the town.

Christian Science Services announce the Sunday sermon theme God the Only Cause and Creator for December 3 at 11 am. The Golden Text from Psalms 33:8 9 proclaims reverence for the Lord and his power to create by mere command. Psalm 148:5 is cited as part of the Lesson Sermon.
Baptist notes announce Sunday School at 7 p m with Pastor leading. The brief item lists a single service time and a pastor reference, reflecting a church bulletin style.
Santa Claus will arrive in Shiner on Friday December 8 at 5 30 pm per Mayor Richter. All school children up to 12 years old are invited to attend and receive a free package.

On Monday at 6 am Rt. Rev. Mons. L. P. Netardus united in marriage Mrs Annie Jemelka and Adolf Stiborek at the local Catholic Church. Witnesses were August Stiborek and Emil Tomek. The couple, both in navy blue, hosted a wedding breakfast and dinner for immediate families at the bride’s home. They will reside west of town as the Gazette offers congratulations and best wishes.
Victor Jaks opens a new produce house on December 1 in the building beside the Shiner Bottling Works. He will buy poultry cream eggs and related goods and invites broad trade support. The note praises him as a fine young man and wishes success.
A lucky hunter, Erwin Henkhaus, bagged a six point deer in Julica's pasture Tuesday evening, leaving one visibly pleased resident in town.
Mr and Mrs Reinhold Dietschke of Moulton announce the birth of a nine and a half pound baby girl on November 21. She will be named Jeanette Rose. The mother is formerly Lorine Madala. Congratulations.

Miss Leena Valek spent a wi with Miss Faye Wallace in San Anat.
Gonzales Texas November 18 Work began Friday on the Gonzales Warm Springs Foundation for Texas crippled children to build a brick dormitory and treatment center for 16 boys. The project hires 125 National Youth Administration workers within holidays to speed construction on 40 acres near Palmetto State Park. The non profit foundation, commended by F D Roosevelt, lists 38 officers and directors from Gonzales Austin Seguin Houston and other Texas towns.
Shiner will receive a federal grant of 23 300 to fund street hardening projects and waterworks improvements. The city must match 45 percent with local funds while the federal government covers labor and material, promising better roads and service for residents and travelers. The announcement follows council efforts and local praise for ensuing upgrades.

Mr and Mrs Jos Muras and Miss Mary Antrich witnessed a fatal accident in Columbus involving 8 year old Thomas B Schultz son of Albert Schultz. He was struck by a truck while leaving a school bus and died at Columbus Hospital at 9 45 p mism. Funeral set for 2 pm in Columbus.
Julius Vrana purchased the store at Midway from Frank Klecka. Vrana now owns the store filling station and gin at Midway, a desirable community, and well wishes are offered for his success.
Miss Louise Hempel wed Victor Zacharias Tuesday at the Yoakum Rectory with Rev. H V Hug officiating. Witnesses were Frank McGrew and Virgil Gee. The couple planned a San Antonio honeymoon after a dinner at the groom’s home.
A comedy in three acts titled Don't Darken My Door will be staged at Menger School on December 7 at 7 30 p m Admission 10 and 20 cents with proceeds for the school. All welcome to attend.
