The faculty of St Ludmila's High School celebrates state accreditation marking years of improvements and rising scholarship. Sister Augustine, head of English, joined two years ago after earning a degree from State Teachers College. The school emphasizes patient effort by the Sisters in achieving recognized status.

Summer Term Closed at St Lud Mila High School

The summer school at St Lud mila's High School closed last Friday with about 20 sisters from Incarnate Word Convent attending daily. Fifteen sisters will return this weekend from San Marcos where they studied two months at the State Teacher's College.

Obituary: Mrs. Hermine Mewes Dies in Shiner at 63

Mrs. Hermine Mewes died Saturday at 2 30 PM at her daughter Adele Rabe's home near Shiner after weeks under medical care. Born June 2 1866 in Germany, she emigrated to the U S with her parents, lived in Schulenburg and Shiner, and married Franklin Mewes on March 1 1886 in Flatonia. Survived by 11 children, 6 grandchildren, her husband, three sisters, and three brothers, funeral Sunday at 5 PM from the family residence with burial in City Cemetery. Rev A H Falkenberg conducted services.

The 17th Annual Flatonia Fair opens September 11 for four days with a full premium list and events including Shiner Day Waelder Day Tri County Dairy Day and Carnation City Day. Guadalupe County Fair in Seguin also opens September 11 for five days with 128 page catalogue of reading and racing program.
