Time To Run shown in Shiner at two local venues

A family oriented film Time To Run will be shown at the Activities Building 207 E 7th St Shiner on Saturday August 30 1975 at 8:00 p.m. and at Shiner Baptist Church corner 15th and on Sunday August 31 7:00 p.m. The film stars Ed Nelson Randall Carver Barbara Sigel Joan Winmill and Gordon Rigsby and follows a scientist father and his conflicted family as they face environmental and personal tensions.

Summer Festival at Hillje Parish Aids St Andrew’s Church

The pastor and parishioners of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Hillje invite all to a summer festival at the Hillje SPJST Hall on Sunday August 24. Barbecue beef and sausage served buffet style at 11:00 am or curb service at 2.00 each plate. Bulk meat and sausage sold at the pit. An auction of antiques begins at 1:00 pm with other activities. Games and entertainment for all ages. Dancing from 8:00 pm to midnight with Sammy and the Midnighters.

Taslers Receiving Care After July Two Car Crash

Mrs Norbert Tasler has been moved from Santa Rosa Medical Center in San Antonio to a Columbus hospital and shows steady improvement. Her husband is convalescing at home after a separate hospitalization. The couple were badly injured in a two car collision July 12 on Highway 95 near the GVEC sub station south of Moulton.

Koranek Returns From TAMU Prague Study Program

David Koranek of Moulton joined Texas A&M University for a six week Prague study program directed by Prof. J J Skrivanek with participants from UT Austin UH Yale and more. The trip included language classes tours historic sites and a June 24 certificate. concerns arise over possible program discontinuation due to economics and non profit status.

Highway Dept Installs School Safety Lights

The State Department of Highways and Public Transportation plans flashing beacon crossings on highways to slow traffic near schools. District Engineer Carl V Ramert says about 18000 is spent district wide to repaint crossings and install beacons. Installation in Shiner on US 90A near the high school is complete and will operate when school starts.

Mrs Albina Poenitzsch 45 of Sealy was killed in a two car and a third vehicle collision near Highway 90 east of Sealy late August 10 1975. Edmond Jones Bennie Novicke and Larry Vickery drove involved cars, funeral services held at Immaculate Conception Sealy, burial in Houston Forest Park Lawndale. Quarterback Club Kick-Off Barbecue at Shiner High

The Shiner High School Quarterback Club will host its annual kick-off barbecue and membership drive on Tuesday September 2 1975 at 8:00 p.m. in the school cafetorium.
