Young North Carolinian Visits Shiner Brewery Feature

Joseph Orsak Jr., 13, of Fayetteville, NC, nephew of Mrs. Edgar Guettner and Miss Louise Orsak, read Fayetteville paper coverage about the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner. The article, with photo of longtime employee Joe Green, was an API release carried here. Joseph’s first Texas visit two years ago left a strong impression of Shiner.

Shiner observes Labor Day Monday September 1 with many closures including banks and the Post Office. Mail will be boxed and Star Route will run with no rural delivery. Shiner Church Opens Activities Building This Saturday

A Shiner Baptist Church activity building at 207 East 7th Street opens Saturday August 30 at 8 p.m. with a free showing of the World Wide film A Time To Run. After the film, visitors may use pool tables air hockey foosball ping pong and pinball and future hours will expand after home football games after school and on additional evenings. A schedule will be posted August 31 indicating days and hours.

Linn's Stamp News notes Shiner Texas bicentennial cover releases tied to the unveiling of a howitzer in Welhausen City Park on June 14 1975. Sold out covers from the howitzer and musket turkey shoot spur future issues including Heritage Day Polka Day on October 12 1975 and a 1976 lineup. Rites for Clement Roznovsky Sr. Held in Gonzales

Funeral services were held Friday August 22 at St James Catholic Church Gonzales for Clement Roznovsky Sr. who died suddenly at 6:00 am August 20 1975 at his home. Quarterback Club Kick Off Barbecue Event at Shiner High

The Shiner High School Quarterback Club announces its annual kick-off barbecue and membership drive on Tuesday September 2 1975 at 8 00 p m in the school cafetorium. Membership costs are 6 00 for men and 3 00 for ladies with ladies especially invited to join the Comanche boosters club. Hospital Charges Rise 12 Percent at Shiner Hospital

The Shiner Hospital Foundation will raise rates 12 percent effective September 1 1975 to cover higher costs for medical supplies plus mandatory wage hikes and new Medicare Medicaid rules. Private room goes from 49 to 55 dollars per day semi private from 44 to 50 dollars and overall average daily charge climbs to about 83 dollars amid inflation and utilization review costs. Texas and the American Revolution exhibit opens in Shiner

The Institute of Texan Cultures presents a traveling show titled Texas and the American Revolution at Shiner City Hall Old Fire Station from September 4 to 6, 1975. The display features eight silk screened columns and monthly topics including Texas and Her Constitution, Texas Ranger, and Sam Houston. The Special Cultural Committee invites the public to view the exhibits.

August Birthday Party at TLH Honors August Honorees

Families hosted a TLH birthday party on August 13 1975 honoring Emily Kroulik Sofie Pustejevsky Della Pfeil Barbara Schaefer Mary Siegel Mary Svoboda and other attendees. TLH Auxiliary president Anton Schaefer and birthday chair Hilda Hagendorf introduced honorees and relatives.
