Mrs. Alois Zidek Dies After Ill Health at 74
Mrs. Alois Zidek died Saturday August 8 1959 at 2 20 PM while en route to Wagner Hospital Shiner after long illness. She was born Marie Antoinette Pliska in Teen Moravia Czechoslovakia and came to the United States at age 12 settling near Praha then Flatonia area. She married Alois Zidek November 14 1905 and lived on a farm near Moulton for 46 years. Survived by husband daughter Helen Vasek two grandchildren and siblings Frank Pliska Matilda Chovanetz Ray Stevens Stella Cranston. Funeral in Moulton with burial at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery.

The 1960 Conservation Reserve program requires producers to file a basic annual rate request in the County ASC Office from August 24 to September 10, 1959. Applicants must provide 1958 and 1959 crop histories, 1955–1959 crop acreage and yields, and an estimate of fair rental value per acre. Some farms are ineligible, including idle farms in 1958 or 1959, farms with ownership changes since December 31, 1956 (unless inherited), and farms without tenants if previously tenant-operated unless owner managed both 1958 and 1959.

Luther Welfare Society plans a 25 bed facility in Shiner with a projected cost of 100000 to 125000. The Dickson Estate donor block residence and 20 acres plus 5000 dollars aid make the site ideal. Burial Rites Held for Mrs. Alois Simersky
Mrs. Alois Simersky died August 15 1959 after a lengthy illness at her daughter’s home in Gonzales. Funeral services were held August 17 at the Shiner Catholic Church with burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. She was born April 23 1880 in Czechoslovakia and married Alois Simersky in 1903. She leaves her husband two daughters a son a brother a half brother eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons. Rev John J Hanacek conducted the rites.

Injured Couple In 2 Car Crash North Of Shiner
Mr and Mrs Albert Anton Kurtz of Route 3 Shiner were rushed to Wagner Hospital after a two car collision on Highway 95 four and a half miles north of Shiner. Richard Doss Roberts of La Grange, who said he fell asleep at the wheel, hit the Kurtz Oldsmobile from the rear. The Kurtzs sustained cuts bruises a dislocated arm and lost teeth. Roberts remained unharmed and was cited for improper passing.

Barton O'Neal resigns as elementary principal of Shiner Public School effective August 10 after one year in the role. He will train at Amarillo and join Commercial Insurance Co as a management trainee. his family will remain in Shiner until November awaiting permanent relocation after training.
