Dr and Mrs Nave hosted a large gathering on the 28th to honor The Twentieth Century Club. A musical program led by Mrs Hughes featured piano solos, recitations and vocal numbers, with Miss Hughes praised for her attire and the event noted for its colonial costumes and elegant lawn decor.
A social gathering featured Mrs Nave and numerous attendees including Heart Fry, Gantert, Welhausen, Chovanetz, Dunn, Hughes Merrem, Thulemeyer, Schlottman, Wolters, Dittmar, and many ladies and misses such as Hughes, Moeckel, Hitt, Herms, Tommy Thornton, Birdie Thornton, Agnes Stuerske, Alice Kossbiel, Tillie Wolters, Annie Koeh, plus Pledger, Roberts, Mae Hughes, Jessie Amster, and Chas Sandford among others.
The Farmers State Bank of Shiner announces a stockholders meeting for September 16, 1903, at the bank office. The purpose is to vote on increasing capital from 30000 to 50000 dollars and to consider using the Texas State Bank Law provision allowing trust business for corporations with 50000 capital. Directors Chas. H. Flato H. Dreyer Sr. Julius Dreyer A. G. Lichey issue the notice.
Fresh eggs sought in 2000 dozen weekly lots for trade. Also requesting large and medium frying chickens. Highest market price in spot cash. Buyers listed as S A Carnes & Son operating as The Cash Produce Buyers in Shiner and Yoakum.
A grand prize shoot and ball is announced for Bluecher Park next Thursday August 18. The report notes election returns with Raab defeating Green by 987 votes and Nixon carrying the county against Atkinson by 589 votes.
