The Shiner Game and Fish League schedules its annual meeting at Green-Dickson Municipal Park on Thursday May 4 with 7:00 p.m. refreshments and an 8:00 p.m. supper. The club aims to provide picnic grounds and fishing, has ordered a roof for the large barbecue pit to aid cooking in rain, and will accept new memberships and renewals at the meeting.
John Hustede of Shiner aged 84 years and 5 months died April 5 1972 after a lengthy illness. Services were held April 6 at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home Moulton with Rev. Walter Simpson officiating. Burial followed at New Bielau Cemetery near Weimar. Pallbearers included grandsons and local relatives. He was born November 5 1887 in Weimar and survived by two sons three daughters sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His wife Johanna Menis Hustede who died 1938 and son Louis Hustede who died 1961 preceded him.
Live Oak District hosts a flag football day at Shiner High School on April 22 with eight troops from Cuero Yoakum Hallettsville La Grange Shiner. First round pairings include 225 vs 231 and 232 vs 229. Final matches begin at 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Admission is free.
A turkey and ham shoot will be staged at Macharts Store in Charlottenburg Sunday April 23 starting at 1 00 pm Participants may bring 12 16 20 and 410 gauge shotguns Shells will be furnished Public invited The event is sponsored by the St Paul Sophomore Class and the Immunization Clinic follows on Monday April 24 at Yoakum City Hall. Frank A. Nevlud age 81 of Route 4 Hallettsville died April 10 1972 after a short illness at De Tar Hospital Victoria. Rosary was recited and a requiem Mass at St Marys Church Hallettsville with interment in St Marys Catholic Cemetery. He was born December 21 1890 in Czechoslovakia and survived by two sons, two daughters in law, a brother and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Texas A M alumni in the area plan an Aggie Muster Friday April 21 at 7 30 p m at La Mancha Restaurant Yoakum Texas 77995. Dinner cost 250 guests invited speaker C H Ransdell Assistant Dean of Engineering reservations Jim Witte 408 Walnut. Muster began 1903 and is held worldwide with 500 musters this year including Vietnam and prison camps.
Mrs. Paul L. Surovec nee Mary Mikes of Houston died April 14 1972 in Pasadena after a lengthy illness at 71 years 9 months and 12 days. Rosary and Requiem Mass were held in Shiner with burial at Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Survivors include six children eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mrs Edna P Wendt Ferero 64 died April 8 1972 in De Tar Hospital Victoria after seven weeks ill She was born June 4 1907 in Shiner Texas and lived in California since 1942 Memorials were conducted in Shiner and Whittier with burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park She was married July 9 1955 to Oscar Art Ferero who died April 7 1970 She leaves siblings in Victoria and Shiner plus nieces and nephews

Mrs Ignatz Janca nee Mary A Kubena of McQueeney aged 89 years 3 months 21 days died April 8 1972 at Guadalupe Valley Hospital Seguin after three weeks illness Requiem Mass April 10 at Shiner Catholic Church Burial in St Marys Catholic Cemetery Pallbearers listed Survivors include two sons a brother and a sister The deceased was a member of the Catholic Church and the KJZT Society.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Peter A Vrazel at Sts Cyril and Methodius Church in Shiner with a Requiem Mass. Buried in Shiner Catholic Cemetery, she was 77. Survived by husband Pete Vrazel and multiple children and relatives, with rosaries held at Buffington Funeral Home and church duties by local clergy.

Shiner High School hosts Somerville at 4 00 p m and St Paul Cardinals meet St Joseph Victoria at 7 30 p m at Green Dickson Municipal Park Tuesday April 25.
The State Department of Health and the Department of Health Education and Welfare approved final plans for a new Shiner Hospital wing at a special board meeting. Bids open on Thursday May 11, 1972, as construction starts soon. contributions are invited from individuals and organizations.
Two laymen from United Dr. Martin Luther Church Shiner and Rev C C Grosenbacher join over three hundred delegates at the Eleventh Convention of the Texas Louisiana Synod of the Lutheran Church in America in Houston April 21 23 Salem Lutheran Church 4930 W Bellfort hosts the gathering Rev Dr Robert J Marshall president of the national church will lead services and Dr Walter Wolbrecht will address delegates on Christian conscience with talks on women's liberation in the church and Vietnam and world peace. Bethany College covenant and a capital funds appeal for the Lutheran School of Theology Chicago are on the slate.

Mrs Ylovia Williams of Lubbock will attend the District 24 convention in Shiner on Sunday April 23 1972. She is president of the Department of Texas Ladies Auxiliary and advocates helping retarded children and honoring returning servicemen. The event features speakers Senator Bill Patman Mayor Ben Marcak and District 24 Commander A W Schaffner with a public memorial service and ceremonies at the American Legion Hall.

Consolation games feature Moulton Rockets vs Shiner Clippers and Schulenburg Lone Star vs Weimar Vets Saturday April 22 with La Grange Drug Demons vs Flatonia Sunday April 23. The final pits Hallettsville Redbirds against the La Grange Flatonia winner after a prior weekend where Hallettsville beat Moulton 11 11 in five innings with Mann pitching a no hitter.
