The Shiner Public School Parent Teacher Association met in the seventh grade room on April 11 1940. President Mrs Ernest Hajek called the meeting to order as officers were reviewed and minutes approved. The treasurer reported favorably and bills were authorized for payment. members urged to save Liberty Flour Mills coupons to fund the school orchestra and three extra caps and gowns were purchased for twenty three senior graduates.

The Dickson Farmers League met on April 9. Members reviewed visits to AAA offices in Gonzales Fayette and DeWitt counties and adopted a sympathy resolution for deceased member John Mikes. Mrs Annie Verunac Dies in Weimar At 59
Mrs Annie Verunac aged 59 died Sunday at 3 a.m. at the local hospital. Born in Praha she was raised in the community and married to Frank Verunac of Weimar. Funeral services were held Tuesday 9 a.m. from the family home with Solemn Requiem Mass at St Michael's Church. Burial in Weimar Catholic Cemetery beside her husband. Survivors include four sons Frank Justin Joe James and five daughters. Also five brothers and five sisters. Her mother preceded her in death. The community mourns her unselfish life and paternal family leaves a large circle of relatives and friends.

A rainfall of 8.2 inches last Thursday was followed by strong winds and a Saturday frost.
