A Decoration Day program is planned for Sunday at 3 PM featuring the Song Lutheran Choir with an invocation by Rev. R Schuetze and addresses by Rev. Rayford Harris and Rev. W C Wolfsdorf. Benediction will be given by Rev. R Schuetze.
Due to Rev A Guyons Shiloh Decoration Day address the regular preaching time shifts from eleven to nine oclock with 10:00 a m Sunday School and 7:30 p m preaching. Several Methodist ladies attended the Women's Missionary Conference at Yoakum last week.
Sunday School at 10 a m with T H McDonald Sept, preaching at 11 a m, Training Union 7 p m, and 8 p m service. Lord's Supper observed Sunday after the sermon. Gonzales Baptist Workers Conference to meet Shiner Church Friday at 10 a m with program. Revival at Corpus Christi reported with 17 coming forward.
The eighty-eighth Annual Convention of the Evangelical Lutheran Texas Synod will convene in Yoakum with a Sunday Divine Service on April 14 at 8 p.m. Dr M A Getzenduner will preach. visitors include Dr Fred C Wiegman and Dr M A Ritzen. April is Educational Month. Lutheran youth urged to stay connected to the church and pursue schooling under God’s guidance. The Jr Choral Club meets April 13 at 3 p.m.
Menger School invites the public to a performance titled Dont Darken My Door on Friday April 12 at 8 pm Admission is 10 and 20 cents.
Next Tuesday night at 7 45 the Expression Class holds its regular monthly recital at the City Auditorium free entry. The public is cordially invited to attend.
The program lists Frances Elaine Wagner as Colonial girl, Annie Marie Muras as present day, and a series of declamations led by August Darilek Jr with The National Flag, The Lone Star of Texas by Wendell Howard, Texas Undivided and Indivisible by Roy Pohler, The Mocking Bird by Eva Jo Boyle, Blue Bonnets by Patricia Mae Hughs, Something to be Thankful For by Chas Mondy Jr, My Own United States by Howard McDonald. The Crystal Gazer features Rosalie Muras as Madame La Sorciere and Eunice Meyer as Bessie Blank.
The Expression Class will present a closing recital next Tuesday April 16 featuring patriotic numbers and two short dramatic skits in period costumes. The program honors San Jacinto Day and admission is free with the public invited to attend.
Ernest Baker pitched a 13–0 victory as the Shiner Brewers opened South Central Texas League play against the Cuero Turkey Trotters in Cuero. Baker allowed five hits with fourteen strikeouts, while Victor Baker homered and tripled, and Jackson and Strauss added multiple hits.
Shiner High School senior class presents the play Danger at the Crossroads on April 19 at 8 o clock in the gymnasium. The mystery drama invites audiences to uncover who murdered Mr Clayton and who was in room 13 as they seek the answers on stage.
A city hall meeting organized summer softball teams with seven formed and one more needed to complete the schedule. Boys who wanted to play but missed the meeting should file with Mayor Richter to join, as the season begins April 23 and an All Star game benefits the association on April 22.
A county wide meeting of the farmer's league will be held in Hallettsville on Saturday April 13 at 1 30 p m. E R Alexander of A and M College will be the main speaker. Sweet poisoning of cotton will be a main discussion. All members and non members are urged to attend as this will be educational. The July meeting will be in Shiner.
The Catholic Youth Organization will hold its pores meeting Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Parish Hall. All who wish to become members are urged to attend for initiation instructions as this is the last meeting before it. Members please be present.
Immanuel Lutheran Church announces English services on the first Sunday of each month at 3 00 pm and German services on the third Sunday at 3 00 pm. Everyone is welcome. Pastor A P H Koehler offers guidance from John 8 47.
The last regular meeting was postponed due to the president's family situation. The rescheduled gathering will be at Shiner High School tonight April 11 at seven. Basket ball players will be honored guests and a plated meal will be served by the Home Economics Department.
Marian Fisbeck and Lawrence Schendel were married Sunday at 3 00 p m by Rev Perry in Flatonia Attendants Miss Virginia Darilek and Ernest Struka Fisbeck daughter of Mrs Mary Fisbeck of Moulton chose pink organdy for her dress Schendel is son of Mr and Mrs Wm Schendel of Shiner and a 1937 Flatonia High School graduate The couple will live with the groom’s parents after a trip to Palacios and many friends extend best wishes for a long happy life.
Obituary and crash report from Sulphur Park area recount the death of William Euart Cady at his sister’s home after an 18 day illness, his World War service, and a funeral at Eschenburg Funeral Parlor with American Legion rites. Separately, M. John Mikes, 57, dies when struck near Sulphur Park. jurist verdict calls it accidental death. Mikes is buried at Moulton Catholic Cemetery, with large funeral attendance and church rites.
Funeral services for Anton Heiman were conducted Wednesday at 1 30 p m in his daughter’s home then at Sacred Heart Church Hallettsville with burial in Hallettsville Catholic Cemetery. Born April 27 1866 in Freisburg Colorado County he married Emma Klare in Praha November 21 1887 and lived in Lavaca County. Survived by wife deceased eight years, children Mrs Albert Brogger Mrs Willie Laake Mrs Annie Heiman Mrs Frank Proschko Henry Heiman 17 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren. Pallbearers listed. large crowd attended with many floral tributes.

The School Board canvassed Saturday's trustee election results reporting 53 votes for P. R. Otto and 52 for Fred C. Krause. Otto was re-elected to lead the board with Stindt as vice president and Hollmann as secretary. A J Markovsky and Chas. McElroy were declared county trustees without opposition.
The St Ludmila’s Academy lists students named to the honor roll for the fifth six weeks across grades one through eleven. Recipients include James Fisch ner and Daniel Heimann in grade one, Rita Hubner in grade two, Victor Strauss in grade three, Dennis Wagner in grade four, Charles Kram and Gladys Wagner in grade five, Leroy Beal and Felicia Kram in grade six, Anna Louise Novak in grade seven, Rosalie Muras in grade eight, Agnes Kolacny in grade nine, Frances Elaine Wagner in grade ten, and Valentin Matula in grade eleven among others.
Scoutmaster Garbade awarded first class cards to eight scouts Francis Berkenhoff Edward Fischner Laddie Rott Robert Wagner Forrest Siems August Darilek Daniel Michulka Leon Michulka and also advanced Wilmer Schuetze Edmund Pfeil to second class. An overnight camp on Fish and Game League grounds featured four tents and a festive campfire night with taps and breakfast by dawn. Local contributors to the Boy Scout Sustaining Club of Shiner are listed.
Mrs. S. J. Holchak Sr. and children express sincere thanks for consoling sympathy after the death of their son and brother. They appreciate words, deeds and flowers and keep the memory of their loved one in their hearts. May God bless all.

The Midway Hall dance venue is leased for a year to Pateks Orchestra. Their first dance under new management will be held Sunday April 14 with open invitation to all readers.
The Shiner Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting with President A H presiding. Reports approved include a 3.24 dollar highway trip expense, 5.30 dollar Bunjes Club materials, and 25 dollars to the South Texas Chamber. A Bowen Line bus permit hearing request was discussed and tabled for later decision. Members revised the constitution and bylaws to be voted again in May.
A lively evening of entertainment is promised at City Hall featuring a program titled Another Angle. Performers and venues are expected to draw residents for a night of varied acts and community fun.
H C Cammack expresses heartfelt thanks for flowers messages and cards received during recent illness. The sender notes these acts of kindness brought comfort and will be cherished as a memory.
Sulphur Park to open with an all day celebration on Sunday April 21 featuring barbecue baseball and amusements. Senator L J Sulak and other candidates slated to speak. Grounds and buildings repaired and improved inviting public attendance.
