Local Draft Board Plans Induction In April 1952
The Gonzales Lavaca county draft board calls 15 men to report on April 24 to meet this month’s quota. Two conscientious objectors Wilbert Rother and Henry Bennetsen are to undergo physical exams. Inductees include James Scheske Jr., Fred Gerloff, Robert Ochs, Otis Steen and others from Gonzales and nearby towns. A 13-man re examination group is set for April 16 with registrants from Gonzales, Shiner, Ottine, Waelder, Hallettsville, Moulton and Yoakum.

Easter Weather Brings Needed Rainfall and Cold
Easter arrived with a cold wave and rain totaling 1.20 inches by Wednesday night. The coldest Easter since 1928 persisted through Easter Sunday with 34 degrees in 1928 echoing in frost risk. Farmers welcomed moisture after dry soil though some crops show stress from cold nights and crusted soil.

Lavaca County 4-H clubs will award 148 trips in 1952 to junior leadership programs. Daredevil Driver at Yoakum Speedway Easter Day
The Yoakum Speedway offers a rain shortened Easter show rescheduled for Sunday April 20. Stock car races start at 1 00 PM and Captain Jack O Diamonds will headline the safety and thrill act after the races with a motorcycle through a flame tunnel and a precision roll over in a stock car. Texas May draft call sets 1394 men from state
Brigadier General Paul L Wakefield announced the May draft call for Texas totals 1 394 men. Local boards will be contacted in early April with quotas and allotments. The state quota may include 20 year olds and delinquents with younger volunteers permitted. 21 and older are eligible. Regular examinations are planned for May with 2 500 men to be examined pre induction. 4 F re-examinations and conscientious objector cases are noted for April. Easter furloughs include SFC Leroy Beal of Fort Campbell and PFC Norvin E Mueller of New Orleans with reassignment plans outlined.

Brotherhood Convention Ties Texan ULCA Meeting to Corpus Christi
