The annual Decoration Day Services will be held at City Cemetery next Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The program includes Hymn by a Double Quartet, Invocation by Rev. G T Gibbons, Address by Rev. J C A Pfenniger, Hymn by Quartet, Remarks by Rev. Gibbons, and Benediction by Rev. Pfennninger.
C E S Chapter No. 272 announces its regular meeting for Tuesday night April 9. Members are urged to attend and participate in the session.
Mrs John Lukas has returned from a visit to Houston noting no further plans or engagements mentioned.
The Parent Teachers Association announces its regular meeting for Thursday April 11 with full attendance hoped for. Members are urged to arrive promptly at 3 o'clock.
The Methodist Ladies Aid met at Mrs. E J Merrem’s home with a devotional program led by several members. They voted to hold a public tea and economy sale in April and assigned a committee to place flowers on the graves of seven departed members on Memorial Day April 7. Out of town guests included Mesdames E L and Leslie Merrem Yoakum Rev G T Gibbons and Mrs W L Russell Hallettsville Mesdames M Richter Weimar and Q B Schaefer San Antonio.
City officers tally shows Mayor E Runk with 1677 votes and City Secretary J M Can on with 178. Aldermen to be elected include C J Garbade 155, John F Kasper 130, Ben J Novak 85, Louis Wagener 64, KK C Merseburger 79, F R Mergenthaler as judge. Incumbents Garbade Kasper and Novak reelected to council. Election was assisted by J H Huebner and Aug Weber.
City Hall hosts a Springtime Fantasy at 7 45 p m featuring wand and rose drills vocal and instrumental music all for 25 cents. Adults urged to fill the auditorium and delight the children with a lively program.
An infant publication Vol 1 No 1 titled The Bomber appears on an April 1. The 1929 seniors with Miss Sanders drive it, aided by a Rotospeed expert. Congratulations to the seniors and best wishes for The Bomber to inspire the class of 1930.
A white crepe de chine tie with a bar pin is found and turned in at this office for claim. Apply in person at 201f to recover the item.
Willie Hartman has remained a patient at the local hospital since last week. The report notes his ongoing treatment and current condition as of the latest update.
The Lavaca County grand jury adjourned March term 1929 reporting 13 true bills 10 felonies 3 misdemeanors. They found the courthouse jail and poor farm sanitary and inmates well treated, roads and bridges in fair condition, and urged auditors to require accurate recordkeeping for state and county funds. Foreman C. P. Whittington signed the report with thanks to the district and county attorneys.
Miss Virgie Monroe of Houston spent last week with her parents, with Miss Willie Hazel joining from Austin for the weekend. Mrs. R. A. Weinert and daughter of Seguin are in the T. J. Ponton home while District Attorney Weinert attends district court in Hallettsville.

Shiner Baptist Church announces special evangelistic services beginning next Monday at 7 30 pm. Rev R C McCullough of Gonzales and Pastor H G Fraser will conduct nightly services all week and on the following Sunday both morning and evening. A cordial invitation is extended.
Local post commander O. I. Meyer of the American Legion unveils six scholarships from Kolar Stanek Post to Shiner High School students. Bronze medals go to top in all grades, silver to 8th to 10th graders, and gold to the senior boy and girl with the highest four year average. Medals to be displayed at Corner Drug Store in a few days.
The district court lists numerous bank stock suits with judgments for plaintiffs, partitions, foreclosures, and notes. Several cases note dismissals, defaults, and continuances. The criminal docket is set for next week with trials for murder seduction swindling rape and related proceedings. Hallettsville Herald
Schulenburg Boosters pressed to mobilize last week for a big April 3 celebration. Gazette closing for press sees numerous cars lining up to depart for Carnation City to boost the event.
The Board of Trustees of Shiner Independent School District orders an election at City Hall on April 6 1929 to elect four school trustees. R Mergenthaler is appointed election manager and will select one judge and one clerk. Returns are to be made to the County Judge. Arno Wagener president, C B Stratman secretary, March 18 1929.
