Voters from all districts annexed to the Shiner Independent School District may vote in the April 5 1952 election to choose two trustees. Three names appear on the ballot with polls open 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Two trustees will be elected to Shiner Independent School District on Saturday April 5. Three names appear on the ticket Jerry B Havel Wilbur Minear and R H Bob Sterling with Minear the current board president seeking re election Havel and Sterling are new candidates Krause declined to run.
County trustees voters are reminded that in the Shiner trustee election Saturday they will also vote for Lavaca County trustees. O A Kosler of Shiner announces re election as County trustee from Precinct 3 Shiner. George Kallus also seeks re election as County trustee at large.
Baby Joseph Patek, born at the local hospital and died within hours, was laid to rest March 26 after rites at Roeder Funeral Home and Shiner Catholic Church. The Rev. Stanley J. Petry presided with pallbearer Rudy Patek. burial was in Catholic Cemetery. Survivors include parents Charles James Jr and Mary Heiman Patek, a sister Margaret, brothers Bernard and Raymond, grandparents Chas Patek Sr and Tom Heiman, great grandparents John Patek Petru and Hei man.
Miss Elizabeth Marie Strauss daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Strauss a University of Texas student earned Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honors for women and Summa Cum Laude in Arts and Sciences She ranks among the top sixth of the student body and is granddaughter of Otto Strauss Sr of Shiner.
The Farmers Cooperative Association spends 7800 dollars to modernize equipment. A Thermo steel frame incinerator with a 16 foot base diameter and 40 foot height will burn trash dust and residue from ginning and cleaning machinery. The project aims to prevent fire hazards and enhance town cleanliness in Shiner Texas.
Shiner's Red Cross quota of 1000 dollars lags with 743 dollars raised. Mrs. C. J. Waldrep announces extension until Monday April 7 to allow rural residents and those away from home to contribute. Volunteers will be stationed in front of Corner Drug Store Saturday afternoon to collect offerings.
Louis Kallus was chosen by a committee as the outstanding Conservation farmer for 1951. He will receive the Haletta Hallettsville Lions Club award at a later date. He farms 713 acres on Hallettsville Route 1 nine miles east, with 600 acres pasture and 113 crop land. He rents half the crop land to a tenant, uses cover crops yearly since 1947, and has planted cotton and corn with good yields. He keeps 40 cows and 300 laying hens, sold hogs, and plans to finish 200 acres of overflow land along the Navidad River. He recently completed a brick home and has won cotton contests locally.
Eichenlaub Lodge meets April 7 at 3 00 PM in the Chamber of Commerce room. Gonzales official Frank Sievers explains consolidation with Eichenlaub. Lunch requested for refreshments after the session.
Congratulations to multiple couples from Shiner Hinze Mazoch Gonzales Williamson Kali na and Lieskovsky as they celebrate arrivals at the local hospital. Babies include Patrick Alphonse born March 31 at 7 5, a boy born March 30 at 8 4, a daughter born April 1 at 8 1, a daughter born March 27 at 6 8, a son born March 29 at 8 3, a son born March 28 at 10 8, and a daughter born March 26 at 6 8.
Mrs Vaclav Machart 78 died March 30 after a several week illness. Funeral from Buffington Funeral Home April 1 to Sts Cyril and Methodius for Requiem High Mass. Burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Survivors include husband Vaclav and 15+ descendants in multiple states.
The Methodist Church led by Rev. S. R. Horwood starts pre Easter services on Palm Sunday April 6 with an 11:00 AM sermon. A 7:30 PM service is canceled to allow attendance at Baptist Church revival. Remaining services feature visiting ministers Monday through Thursday and Holy Week observances ending Easter Sunday night.
The Tuesday city election saw 67 votes cast with no opposition. Felix Hubner was re elected with 66 votes and Glade Welhausen 65. William French received one write-in. Also mentions Edgar Wolters showing improvement after a serious illness.
About 550 Knights attended Monsignor Netardus Council 3081 initiation at the Catholic Gym and church. The day included Mass, Holy Hour led by Rev. Peter Roebrooks, district and grand officer presence, degree exemplifications by Schulenburg and Austin districts, and a chicken barbecue at Legion Park.

Shiner High School celebrates Miss Marjorie Brod as Area III Reporter for the Future Homemakers of America after being chosen at the Houston convention on March 22. Sponsor Mrs. Ethel Carpenter accompanied by Lorene Karnau and Kennon Barnick attended, with Earline Vrana unable to attend.
The revival services at the Baptist Church continue with Youth Night on Friday and a goal of high Sunday School attendance. Dr Valentine of Gonzales First Baptist delivers nightly messages and Rev Bill Hines and his pianist wife provide musical encouragement as the community is invited to attend remaining services through Sunday night.
The funeral for W Tell Amsler Sr. was held Tuesday April 1 at 2 00 PM from Roeder Funeral Home with Rev OG T Breedlove officiating. He was buried in Flatonia beside his mother. He died March 31 in a local hospital at 1 21 PM at 73 years nine months with survivors including his daughter Lillian Kure Yoakum and four sons.
Rosemary Stluka eight years five months and twenty days old died at home on Friday March 28. Services were held at Roeder Funeral Home and Shiner Catholic Church with burial in Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers included Joseph Patek Jr Louis Patek Rudy Patek Joseph Svatek Jr and Johnnie Hubner. She was born in Shiner to Ben and Louise Kolar Stluka and survived by parents three sisters and three brothers. One brother Ernest Struka was killed in combat.
