At the State 4-H Show on the Michigan State University campus, 3,165 years of leadership were honored with 4-H Clover Awards for more than 20 years of service to 74,500 Michigan 4-H youths. Recipients included Mrs DeWagen Kyser of Shepherd, Mrs Harold Anderson of Rosebush, Mrs Milo VanVranken of Shepherd, and Mrs Hugh Swindlehurst of Mt. Pleasant, with E J Clabuesch presenting.

False Shooting Hoax Involves Shepherd Youth
A 11yearold Shepherd youth was detained after a false phone report claimed a Shepherd woman had been shot. The call to a General Telephone operator at 2 54 p.m. led to police checks of five residences before the juvenile hung up and was released to parents. The case goes to Probate Court for action.
