Airline officials led by North Central vice president Frank N. Buttomer warned Michigan's rapid highway expansion could force local air service out of business. He noted the carrier has regained some highway-shifted passengers on longer trips while Michigan cities pressed concerns at a meeting with the Civil Aeronautics Board and the state Department of Aeronautics. A Cadillac Reed City area spokesman cited road time to Detroit as equal to air travel, and Traverse City representatives blamed multi stop routes for limiting efficiency.
