Romney backs County Chairman bill in Michigan law
Governor Romney presents Public Act No. 246 known as the County Chairman Bill to Representative Russell H. Strange. The act requires county committee officers to be selected within 30 days after November elections by county nominees and an equal number chosen by precinct delegates at the fall county convention. The measure, first introduced by Rep. Strange in 1957, had broad bipartisan support and aligns with Romney’s January endorsement of precinct delegate participation in leadership selection.
