Financial protection through annuities questions answered

A retiree with 15000 savings asks if an annuity can fund support for his son. Experts explain buying an annuity for self and gifting income or setting direct payments to the son, with a provision to revert if the son dies first. They note annuitants live longer on average than life-insurance policyholders, since buyers are usually in good health.
