Richland Intermediate Students Write Letters for Kern Fair
Pony Express rider John Thompson collected letters from Richland District students on the Kern County Fair opening day. Third grade teacher Brenda Hall says the class wrote notes to parents urging a fair visit, then Thompson delivered the letters to the fair and onward to parents. Officer Lionel Lopez responded to a traffic crash scene in Shafter after a pursuit ended when Moen 37 of Shafter crossed into the patrol car’s path. Moen suffered injuries and was hospitalized. he was booked at Kern County Jail on charges including Assault With A Deadly Weapon Upon a Police Officer and held by the California Department of Corrections.
