Shafter Welcomes New Teachers at Chamber Luncheon
Over 35 new teachers and community reps filled three tables at Shafter High School cafeteria for the annual Chamber of Commerce welcome luncheon. Chamber president Joe Sales introduced leaders from the Ministerial Association, city government, and local clubs while new faculty were introduced by Maple School principal Clyde Johnston, Richland School District superintendent Bruce Crawford, and Shafter High principal Art Johnson.

The Bakersfield Inter-Service Club Golf Tourney wrapped with a chicken dinner and fellowship. Seventy seven golfers set a new high in the sixth annual event chaired by Tom Tucker with Dr. John H. Revell. Lions Club won the Team Championship. Exchange Club received the Perpetual Trophy for club participation. First Low Net went to Tommy Tucker. Third Low Net to Robert Somers. Calloway winners were Steve Furman Ivan Meyers and Dr. George Collins. Smiley Burnett took the Chopping Champ Trophy. main door prize went to Ralph Boel. Clubs involved included Rotary Lions Exchange Kiwanis 20-30 American Legion and Christian Business Men's Club.
