Memories of Maple School in Shafter area history
The Maple School began in 1910 four miles west of Shafter on Lerdo Avenue as a tiny shack with 13 pupils. It grew through additions, moved buildings, and faced a fire before the present third Maple School building. Early students included Seventh Day Adventists who later built a church and parochial school nearby.
