Miss Leona Mettler wed Sam Heinrichs in the German Reformed church with Rev. A Funck officiating. The ceremony featured a pink rose bouquet and a wedding march by Olive Schnaidt. The couple plans a honeymoon in Oakland San Francisco before settling on the Heinrichs ranch near Shafter. Shafter High School opened with larger enrollment and staff. 181 students are registered across all grades, with 66 freshmen and 42 sophomores.

The Maple Boy Scouts Troop 77 will start a Good Turn by collecting used toys in Shafter for repair or salvage to aid less fortunate children at Christmas. Plans include painting rural mailboxes for a dollar each, with a camping trip scheduled for the 19th. Scout leaders are Kenneth Nicol, Douglas Peters, Edward Peters. Scoutmaster Ruben Siemens and Assistant Vernon Isaac.
