Council Requests Name Change for Shafter Port at Minter Field
Shafter City Council again asks Kern County Supervisors to rename the Minter Field Airport to Shafter Airport. The field, recently acquired from the Federal government, serves mainly Shafter fliers and houses most of its planes locally. Built before the war as part of the Minter Field basic training school, the port cost about two million dollars and includes hangars and administrative buildings.
