Kiwanis Promotes Free Water Safety Kit Distribution
Kiwanis volunteers offer a free Water Safety Kit including pool safety tips a checklist safety numbers and a water watcher whistle. Kits available at Floyds Stores Office Depot Rosedale Taft KMart in Rosedale and Taft after a Shafter club member Amy McDaniel organized the program with the health department and local dignitaries.

Memorial Day ceremony to honor veterans in Shafter
A community program in Shafter will honor veterans with ceremonies at noon featuring a flag salute, prayers, and a roll call of local heroes. Pastor Williams, a Purple Heart recipient, will speak, with Richland Intermediate choir and EMTs performing readings and music. Organizers invite volunteers and urge parents to attend. call 746-6365 to help or locate veterans.

On August 20 2002 National Health Services joined Richland Junior High and Shafter Healthy Start to immunize 61 Richland students enabling school start. A community backpack drive collected 46 backpacks with support from Channel 29 Cheer Xtreme and local agencies. Call 746-8691 to assist.
