Memorial Service Honors 9/11 Victims and Veterans
A community ceremony honors the nearly 3,000 victims of the 9/11 attacks and all veterans. The program at First Southern Baptist Church features Pastor Jim Williams, Richland students reading 9/11 remembrances, school band and choir performances, and ROTC color guard. The city invites all residents to attend a 30 to 40 minute memorial beginning at noon.

Assemblyman Dean Florez backed AB 2203 to safeguard confidential prison staff data after a Wasco State Prison breach exposed names addresses phone numbers social security numbers dates of birth and some medical files. Barbara Tisler, a Bakerfield resident who began with Shafter seniors in 1996, retires after 11 years as Senior Program Director. A luncheon honored her service with officials, awards, and roses while colleagues plan future volunteer work with the Office on Aging.
