Judge orders restitution in fatal Shafter crash case
Dana Hilderbrand, 22, died last November when her car hit a truck near Lerdo School. Stephanie Rodriguez, who pleaded no contest, was sentenced to 400 hours of community service and fined 1275 dollars. Judge Gary Ingle ordered 815.27 dollars monthly restitution, with payments starting in October and a review in six months. The Hilderbrands said the sentence is unfair while Rodriguez said she is pleased with the outcome.

Wasco youth charged in Shafter girl's death near Lost Hills
Kern County detectives arrested 18 year old Offord Rollins of Wasco last week at Wasco High School and charged him with killing 17 year old Maria Rodriguez of Shafter. Detectives cited lab results plant material and an eyewitness linking Rollins to the crime scene and his vehicle. The body of Rodriguez was found near a canal bank in a wooded area.
