Wasco DUI Checkpoint Nets One Arrest and Tows

Kern County Sheriff’s Office ran a Wasco DUI checkpoint Saturday from 8 to midnight funded in their budget to support four this year. One DUI arrest occurred and seven plus vehicles were towed or impounded for violations including no registration or unlicensed drivers. A cited driver lacking a license had 60 minutes to arrange a licensed pickup to avoid impound. A second Wasco checkpoint is planned for August 30 at an undisclosed location.

Jacinto Gomez Jr 51 jailed on possession of controlled substance and outside agency warrant. Derek Haley 27 cited for DUI and unsafe driving. Juan Reyes 21 and Reynaldo Catalan Villalobos 25 named on outside agency warrants. Jacqueline Rene James 50 arrested on a warrant.

The program airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays 4 PM to 5 PM on Bright House and Charter systems with live hosting by Michael Cushine. Call-in tutoring runs 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM Tuesdays and Wednesdays via local and toll-free numbers.
