The girl's 9 year old brother notified his mother that the sister had entered a car with a drunken man. The girl and family live at the De Witte Labor Camp north of Shafter. McCoy denied mistreatment according to sheriff's deputies.
County counsel reports a legal notice of sale and description of the appeal to be published in the Press. Under the new school code bids must be accepted, and the amount cited was 2000 dollars before legislative change.
The nominating committee announced the names of Bruce Crawford, Irvin Fike, Al Finkbeiner, Wes Futrell, Burl George, Ben Grundy, Art Johnson, Bud Johnson, and Clancy board for four will be elected under by laws. Eight holdover members will remain.
Union churches announce Thanksgiving services with schedules led by Rev. copal and other local clergy. The programs include morning prayers and community dinners, reflecting shared faith and gratitude across the parish.
Jack Harris resigns after 14 years as superintendent of public works for the City of Shafter and Shafter Public Utility District. He left with his family in July 1930 from the San Diego area after a career with Standard Oil and earlier farming work with his father.
CSF members collect candy this week to raise funds while Harvey urges Shafter to work with the Board of Trade for regional recognition. Kiwanis holds its 11th annual parade Thursday with strong turnout expected. Miss Vicki Laverty, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ben Laverty, vies for Bakersfield College Homecoming Queen. eleven contestants compete, Vicki a physical education sophomore.

The period November 1 to November 20 is set for mailing Christmas parcels by surface transport and December 1 to December 10 for the period. Greeting cards for the Armed Forces overseas should be mailed within the parcel periods to reach Fleet Post Office locations in New York San Francisco or Navy facilities.

The council also sent Ben Grundy to a governor’s disaster conference, equalized business license payments, and issued a Coffee Cup cafe amusement machine license to Jack Manweiler. Sam Templeton urged an East Lerdo and Elm street sightline study. Chief Hanley Witcher reported further items.
The exhibit invites the public to view scouting activities and encourages parents with non scouting boys to attend. Each registered Cub Scout or Boy Scout should invite a new boy to come, and applications to join will be available in the exhibit area during the afternoon.
A battery powered car overturned Thursday at Shafter Avenue and Rodriguez Street, sending Hulda Voth of 30388 Riverside Drive to a doctor for treatment.
