Board Rejects Master Plan For School Unification
Richland Board of Trustees debated a state submitted master plan for unification. It proposes grouping Shafter and Wasco High Schools with several districts including Buttonwillow Rio Byn e Sadle Sem oe Wasco Union Wildwood to form Northwest and split Mojave and Muree areas into two districts. The plan targets NW high school attendance around 1593 and elementary attendance about 4699 with broader district coverage across Tehachapi Taft and Southern Kern regions.

Lions Club Light Bulb Sale Faces Rainy Night
Frank H. Wisner reports Lions Club members pressed on with a Light Bulb Sale despite rain, continuing solicitation to fund glasses for needy children. No Scout Fund results were available by Tuesday. Textbooks on a new mathematics approach are due in California schools in 1964 rather than 1965 as announced by Cal Seca. A plaque will be placed 13% miles west of Shafter on the Lerdo Highway.

Man with Six Prior Offenses Fined In Delano Court
Leroy A. Murphy of Delano received a fine of 550 dollars or 100 days in jail plus five days mandatory, in Sue z Justice Court. He was jailed on a Shafter warrant for driving with a suspended license and has five prior offenses of the same nature per court records.

Fire damages Wiedmann Pontiac at Cherry Avenue home
