Richland Elementary School faces a district wide revamp with a plan from the Richland Elementary School Teachers Association. A two year study by a Curriculum Study Committee led by David Bird seeks funding for an efficiency review to guide future action.

Jan Dargatz, daughter of Mr and Mrs R E Dargatz of 311 Faber St Shafter, is chosen for Who's Who in Am erican Universities and Colleges 1970 71 edition while a junior at Oral Roberts University Tulsa Oklahoma.
Rev. Patrick D. Breslin, pastor of St. Therese's Shafter, is reassigned to St. Catherine's in Dinuha by Bishop Donohoe. Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Pointek will replace Breslin at St. Therese's. A farewell reception for Breslin is set for Wednesday Oct 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Parish Hall.
Shafter Kiwanis Club holds its annual Halloween parade Saturday starting at Tops Market lot at 6 pm with units marching 7 pm through James Street Lerdo Central and back to Tops Market. Judges award prizes in divisions from pre school to high school and marching groups, with poster winners announced earlier at Richland Primary School.

He announces tightened enforcement of bicycle laws, citing ignores of stop signs turns with no signals and faulty lights. The crackdown aims to boost safety, prevent injuries, and protect property, with a future program in cooperation with schools.
