Services were held Saturday at the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church for Mrs Bertha Lachenmaier 4 of 708 Sycamore Ave Shafter who died during a trip in Weiser Idaho. Burial followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park Bakersfield. Survivors include John husband two sons William R and Ralph two sisters Hulda Dorsey of Lodi and Rosa Deutscher of Streeter ND a grandson two granddaughters and one great grandson.

A spate of thefts in Shafter covers vehicles, tools, and items reported at multiple local addresses. A 1969 Datsun pickup vanished from in front of Ivan Myers home at 651 State, while cars at Shafter High School stadium were robbed of stereo recorders and tapes.
