Union Congregational Church on Manuel and Tulare Avenues plans a $30,000 Building Fund drive with twenty teams canvassing households this Sunday. The week includes Schumacher led training, women’s teas, a Sunday School program, and a commissioning service at 11 o clock with “We Would Be Building” sung.

Final entries were filed this week in the Fire Prevention Essay Contest sponsored by the Shafter 20 30 Club and the City Fire Department. Deadline for entries in the Fire Prevention Poster Contest is tomorrow. Cash prizes are awarded. judging will occur in the coming days and final winners will be announced next week.
