Shafter Planning Commission Seeks New Members and Local Ordinances
The city council announces three openings on the Shafter City Planning Commission with terms expiring December 31, 2004. Applicants must live in city limits and be 18 or older, submitting letters by noon November 10, 2000. Current commissioners Hagen Gomez and Figueroa may reapply. New stop sign planned at James and Pacific due to street widening. An ordinance grants rights of way for public phones with a 15 percent gross receipts payment to the city and a 30 day revocation notice. A No Parking Zone will be created on Lerdo Highway south side to curb U turns near Lerdo School used by WESTEC. Budget amendments cover Lerdo School sale improvements and a 50/50 joint pavement project with WESTEC for Carson Way.
