Annual Kiwanis Hallowe'en Parade on Oct 31

Charles Van Blair captured the men's handicap title at the fourth annual 2-L-With-It Country Club invitational held on a two-loop 9-hole course in celebration of Airman 1st Class Tim Revell’s return from Vietnam. Pvt David Woodard Wounded in Con Thien Action

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis J. Woodard of 364 Manne report their son Pvt. 1/c David E. Woodard was injured October 1 in Con Thien Republic of Vietnam. He sustained a fragmentation wound to the right side from hostile artillery while in a defensive position. His condition and prognosis are excellent and he was treated in the field and returned to duty.

Adkins Receives Military Merit Medal for Vietnam Service

Mr and Mrs Ernest W Adkins Sr of 149 Nickel Street announce their son Staff Sgt Ernest W Adkins E 6 earned the United States Army Military Merit Medal for meritorious service in Vietnam between May 1966 and May 1967. The citation lauds his proficiency devotion to duty and leadership. He served in the Navy during Korea and enlisted at 17. He now trains at Fort Eustis Virginia and plans a career in the Army. His nephew Donald Jones Jr trained at Fort Ordnance and Fort Eustis in helicopter repair nearby.
