Council switches to Bankers Life for city health insurance

Annual CPS rate hike triggered savings of about 700 dollars monthly, while Bankers Life offers 90 percent hospital coverage with a 500 dollar deductible and 100 percent coverage after that. CPS currently provides 1500 dollar annual max. Bankers Life costs 2175 dollars per month versus CPS 2898. Petitions Seek New Shafter Recreation District
Circulation of petitions for a new Shafter Recreation and Park District began this week. The plan would include all land in the Richland Lerdo and Maple School districts totaling about 118.75 square miles. A full time director would run the district under a five member board with a 25 cent maximum tax levy.
