The Richland Parent-Teacher Association held a large benefit barbecue at Manuel Park drawing 600 plus attendees. Despite 375 tickets sold, many unticketed guests were fed after waiting by the bonfire, with about 550 dollars net for lunches medical care and glasses for needy children.

Lt Jim Mathis Receives D A C Award At Williams Field
Mrs Ida Mathis traveled to Phoenix to witness her son 1st Lt Jim Mathis receive the D A C award for outstanding service. He is the first Army recipient and third overall in the United States, with World War II credentials including Anzio El Alamein and the Po Valley campaigns.
