The 14th annual Shafter Halloween parade will be held Wednesday October 31 led by Kiwanis President Ross Harrington with Melvin Parrett as general chairman and Joe Frizzell assisting. Cash prizes totaling 225 will be awarded for best costumes floats and marching units with participation invited from Richland Maple Lerdo Rio Bravo and local schools.

Scout-O-Rama and Campfire Honor in Kern County
Scout-O-Rama activity and Campfire Court of Honor set for Saturday night October 20 at 7 30 pm in Shafter led by William of Shafter district adult adviser. About 15 Kern County boys have earned the Arrow full member status with Jim Woodard as the only Shafter teen to reach it. The event features a tepee village in Indian style, Indian regalia, and ceremony by Younta me Lodge of the Order of the Arrow.
