Ropers Corner Tavern Burns in Night Fire
Deputy Jim Johnson discovered the blaze at Roper's Corner Tavern operated by Velma Rasner last Friday morning. Loss estimated at 5500 with 1000 saved. 3:11 a.m. report and 75 percent involvement as fire crews from Buttonwillow and Taft fought the fire under Battalion Chief Paul Hendricks. Fire believed to start in electrical wiring. repairs and new room additions noted.
