David Ringer, 138 Beth Eden, is in serious condition at Kern General Hospital Bakersfield after an apparent accidental self inflicting hip wound from a .22 Derringer. Manuel Garcia, neighbor, called for help after Ringer asked him to summon aid. Ringer underwent surgery and was placed in intensive care. shooting time is given as 12 23 a.m.

Three Jailed in Vandalism Of Automobile
Bakersfield police report three suspects including two 20 year old men Tommy Lee Wilson and Frank Cruz Lemeli and a 17 year old juvenile errant in custody after a severe vandalism incident on a 1964 model panel truck owned by Billy Gladden Trucking Co. The car was found abandoned east of Shafter with tire tracks and debris. Bail for the two adults was set at 3700 dollars each. the juvenile was sent to juvenile authorities. No motive has been determined and the victim does not know the suspects.

Rice Slayer Sentenced To Prison Term In Shafter Slaying
Martin Farmer, 40, of Clovis, convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the April 2 shooting death of Edward Rice, 45, of Shafter, at Clara Burch’s home. Judge Jelletich denied probation and ordered a state prison term of one to 15 years at Chino. Police said Rice was identified as Joe Youngblood. Farmer fired six times with a .22 rifle during a reconciliation visit to his wife.
