Final Rites for Rachel Ann Brown at Southern Baptist Church
Funeral services were held for Rachel Ann Brown aged 80 at the Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Wilcoxon officiating. Interment followed in Shafter. Born January 15 1877 in Kansas she died September 29 in Bakersfield after living in Shafter since 1945 with husband William D. Brown. Survivors include husband a son H A Graham of Glendale daughter Ruth Newell of Dallas two grandsons and two great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Art Newbowles Fred DeWoody Toy Satterfield Alvin Crafton Oscar Rice and Dave Greer. Robert L. Jones Funeral Home of Wasco arranged.

About 20 Shafter horses are set to race at Hollywood Park during the Western Harness Racing season opener delayed by a labor dispute. Funeral Services Held Tuesday for Edward Kruger 63
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Mennonite Brethren church for Edward Gustav Kruger 63 of 18075 South Central Valley Highway. Rev Peter N Riebert officiated. Burial was in Shafter cemetery. He owned and operated Kruger's Farm Supply before retiring in 1955 died September 28. Born in South Dakota he lived in Shafter 40 years. Survived by widow Lydia two daughters Nadine Steinert Bakersfield and Lawrence Schellenberg Shafter a sister Selma Osborn Napa five grandchildren. Mortuary in Shafter handled arrangements.
