Wasco defeated Shafter 20 to 0 in the annual Wasco-Shafter football classic before about 4 000 to 6 000 fans. Key plays came from Wasco’s offense with Bollard and Gilwitz scoring, while Shafter could not mount a sustained threat and faced penalties and fumbles.
Shafter's Colonels and Wasco Cubs battled to a six six tie last Friday night. Lynch to Schmidt powered the Colonels while Wasco threatened early with a strong defense and a 60 yard run by Henry Beach. A late 60 yard pass from Lynch to Schmidt and Black's blocked extra point kept the game even through the final period.
Bennett's Cafe paced by Ken Bennett tops the Major Leagues this week and remains in first place as games were paused for Thanksgiving. Minor Leagues see Wells Cottage and Newman & Sons tied for first with high game by Buddy Wittenberg at 223.
Shafter High School Agriculture Department shipped 40 head to the Union Stock Yard for the Louisiana stock show. The entry includes steers and lambs prepared by students.

Players earning letters included Troy Smart, Carl Millard, Maxmente Ivan Jay Raney, Kay Raney, Leroy Weidenbach, and Phil Zachary.
Mr and Mrs Phil Jeffries and Mr and Mrs Harold Miller drove to southern California last weekend to attend the races at Hollywood Park.
Shafter harness circuit shows top drivers from Camp Lachenmaier Neuman and others. Sol Camp's C and C Ranch operates 35 to 45 harness horses with three new East Coast purchases, while Lachenmaier adds two from the South. Eight additional race days remain at Hollywood Park, and past records highlight Neil Boardman and Charles Witt among the era's leading drivers.
