Governor Edmund Brown and Kern County Water Agency officials signed a contract delivering 67 000 acre feet in 1968 and rising to 1 000 000 acre feet at maximum with surplus water pricing about 14.80 per acre foot in Kern County. The agreement reduces farm water costs by about 25 percent and aligns with the State Water Project. Negotiations continue with about 20 agencies for remaining water.
