Local building permits in the past month totaled 63 494 bringing ten month total to 485 523. October's permits were the third highest this year with August the peak at 118 000 and June at 89 000. April saw the year’s lowest activity. New residences listed include 20 597 to William Goertzen and 21 429 to Marvin Roe. King Lumber remodeled permits stood at 3 042 with seven remodels totaling up to 5 216 for private owners and DMC Rentals.

Lions to Repeat Turkey Shoot Gen Campaign for Sight Charity
The Lions Club will hold its annual turkey shoot on Sunday November 23 at Enos Lane three and a half miles south of Shafter opposite the Superior Oil Co Gag Plant. Shooting begins 9 30 a m with sandwiches refreshments games Lady Luck skeet and a new circle shoot. Proceeds benefit sight conservation.
