LAS AMIGAS members hosted a Harvest Daze dance and buffet at the Veterans Memorial Hall drawing about 150 guests from Shafter and nearby communities. Proceeds support scholarships and medical dental care for Shafter High and Richland School children, with annual fundraising between 1500 and 2000 dollars.

Shafter planning commission approved a revised parcel map for Ernie Hofman’s East Shafter property and sent the final tract map for the first development to the City Council. The plan splits the site bounded by Elm State and Pine into four parcels with an added cul de sac to aid southeastern residences and possible condominiums. The parcel on the southwest corner sold to First Assembly of God Church. remaining land slated for single family homes. The final tract map for fifteen perimeter lots was reviewed and forwarded to the city engineer, attorney, and council.

Shafter Christmas Gift Bazaar Announced for November 22 23
Joyce Reichert and Pat Thompson co chair the Shafter Christmas Gift Bazaar sponsored by the Shafter Potato and Cotton Festival Committee. The two day event at Memorial Hall James and California Streets runs 10 am to 6 pm Saturday and 12 noon to 6 pm Sunday with no admission. Exhibits include arts crafts and home baked goods and a concession stand will serve coffee and soft drinks. Spaces cost 10 each 8 by 10 feet and electricity is available. Tickets for turkeys are sold by Shafter 4 H Club and Shafter Senior Citizens Group with a drawing at 1 pm Sunday. Proceeds support Shafter 4 H projects Senior citizens activities and festival finances. A November 11 meeting at the Legion Hall 7:30 pm will finalize bazaar plans.
