Bakersfield College plans a two month winter sky lecture series titled The Winter Night Sky. November and December sessions outline winter constellations and mythic figures on the dome. Principal stars, the tale of Andromeda Cassiopeia Cepheus Perseus and Pegasus are highlighted with tours and reservable seating.
The Centennial Almanac celebrates Kern County history with unpublished photos and a montage of sketches by artist Jean ings. Howie Wines heads the project with advisory member Mrs Louis Wakefield and Richard C Bai tal, with pre publication prices set and offices in the Haberfelde Building. The Wisners announce the birth of a grandson to Mr and Mrs Genshar, in Scottsbluff. The newborn weighed 7 ounces and is their fourth child. He was welcomed home by a sister and two aunts. Mrs Wisher plans a week in Redondo Beach.
Congressman Harlan Hagen has been named to the Education and Training Subcommittee of the House Merchant Marines and Fisheries Committee. The panel will study the U S Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point and five state maritime schools including California Maine Massachusetts New York and Texas and will oversee related education and training issues in the maritime industry.
