The 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments set clean air standards for non-attainment areas. Last week, Congress approved funding for related EPA tasks, with a $17 million package moving through the House Senate Conference and awaiting final action.
A list of community activities includes an informal morning prayer service before work, a drive for used cameras for the Fine Arts group, a canned food drive for Golden Empire Gleaners running November 12 to December 10 at fire stations and county buildings, and a talk by Lou Sheldon of Traditional Values Coalition at World Harvest International Church in Delano on November 17 at 6 p.m. The church address is 925 Jefferson Street.
