Speculation is third vehicle involved Fatal accident near Lerdo
A westbound car jumped the center line and hit an eastbound 18 wheeler near Lerdo School killing a woman in her mid-20s. The truck driver in his mid-50s was hospitalized in moderate condition. The crash tore down a fence, damaged a transformer with PCP, and prompted hazardous waste crews to respond. Children were kept at Richland Intermediate while Lerdo classes were planned to resume.

Nash ends regime as SHS football announcer
Verl Nash, Shafter High School’s longtime home game football announcer, retires after 39 years in teaching and 23 years announcing. He started at Shafter after a prior career in Colorado and Wyoming, recalling family ties to the role and moments of pride and challenge, including a 52-12 win over Dinuba and a son who played for the Generals in the early 1970s.
