Theatre Robber Bluhm Sentenced to San Quentin
Melvin M. Bluhm twenty was sentenced by Superior Court Judge William L. Bradshaw to a long term at San Quentin for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to murder. He and accomplice Raymond Vigneau twenty one held up the Fox Theatre Bakersfield then fled through Shafter where Officer Marvin Baird was wounded in the leg during the pursuit.

Local Dog Blackie A Half Fox Husky Born In Aleutians
Blackie the mixed lineage pet of C C Powell of Shafter California is a four year old dog born on Adak Island. The animal blends Aleutian Husky traits with Blue Fox coloring and retains a curled tail and slanted eyes. Powell nursed Blackie back to health with milk soaked rags and eye drops. Even in warm seasons the dog requires shots for survival in the area.

Last rites for Jasper Harrison Polk aged 60 were conducted at Flickinger-Janzen Mortuary with Rev. William S. Harper officiating.
