Shafter Depot Volunteers Plummet as Historic Nomination Near
Local volunteers failed to show for depot work at Shafter with only a handful aiding Dwayne Armstrong and Art Kadel. The State Historical Commission will review the Shafter Santa Fe Depot for National Register listing Friday at 9 30 a m in Bakersfield City Council Chambers. Shafter police report a busy week with numerous arrests
Shafter police made a series of arrests last week including Kelvin Snyder on a suspended license charge for an expired tag, Ray Woodie on an outstanding Angeles County warrant, and Bill Farley on a Tulare County warrant. Gary Hutchings faced drunken driving with prior and license suspension charges after a stop at Lerdo Highway. Other incidents involved a vehicle theft attempt near Atkinson, Ruben Prender on a bad check warrant, Everett Byrd for drunken driving, Alan Lee on a Tulare County warrant, and Jaime Garza for being a minor in a bar. Police urged local youths to avoid playing at Stringham Park before 1:00 pm to prevent noise disrupting church services.

Richland School Board Special Meet on District Takeover
A special Richland School District Board of Trustees meeting is set for Wednesday, November 12 at 7 30 p m to discuss the Recreation Districts assumption of ownership of the tennis courts and swimming pool.
