Methodist Women Plan Christmas Bazaar and Dinner
The United Methodist Church Women’s Fellowship hosts a Christmas Bazaar and barbecue beef dinner on Tuesday November 29 at Veterans Hall. Dinner from 5:00 to 7:30 offers beef, beans, potatoes, cole slaw, roll, beverage and desserts for 3.50 for adults and 2.00 for under 12. Bazaar items include afghans, wall plaques, ornaments, macrame, toys, frigies, plants and home made foods with a Youth Fellowship booth. Tickets are sold by church members or at the door.

Adventist Community Services Seeks Help for Needy Families
Adventist Community Services reports aiding 13 local families last year in emergencies and sending 720 pounds of clothing overseas. Residents of Shafter are urged to donate serviceable clothing or bedding and schedule pickups. Community Services meet at Poplar and Riverside each Wednesday from 9:00 to noon.

Camp Fire Candy Sale Heads for Biggest Year in Kern County
Camp Fire Girls in Kern County prepare for a major candy sale running November 10 to 28. The lineup includes Heath Mint Truffles SunKist Fruit Gems and Adams-Brooks P-Nuttles with candy priced at 1.50 a box. Volunteers led by Fred Strickler will canvas neighborhoods asking for support and multiple boxes per household.
