Maple P T A Meeting Date Changed
Maple P T A announces a date change to Monday November 7 to avoid election day. Principal R E Gribble will chair a program on Know Your School Know Your Child with speaker Dr Fred Zannon from the county office of education. Parents may bring questions. A short musical program and Halloween carnival report follow. Fifth and sixth grade mothers will provide refreshments.

Maple Carnival Outstanding Success
Donald Isaac and Bobby Strauss won first place in Maple School Halloween costume parade with a gunny sack horse outfit. Helena Loewen and Phil Siemens won other prizes as a Dutch girl and a clown. A capacity audience enjoyed films, games, booths, and a sponsored supper with proceeds reported as handsome.

Music Theme of Kern Academy P T A Meet
Kern Academy P T A held its October meeting on the evening of October 27 in the Kern Academy chapel. Mrs. Victor Bowkie presided in Mrs. Ezra Ortner’s absence as program committee leader Mrs. William Schneider organized entertainment. Principal Kraid Ashbaugh spoke on music’s value for developing early appreciation and taste. Four motion picture reels were shown: a Carrie Jacobs Bond biography with songs, a string music showcase, Invitation to Music from Florence Italy, and a Medley of American Folk Songs.

Bledsoe Outlines Counseling Office Duties at Shafter High
Shafter High School counselor Dan Bledsoe explains the office role guiding students and parents through course selection, graduation requirements, and personal, vocational, and financial planning. Fifth and Sixth Grade Win Maple PTA Membership Contest
Miss Verna Spiecker’s fifth and sixth grade class won the Maple PTA membership contest. The room children were rewarded with a Halloween party at the school Monday afternoon. Mrs. Arthur Ehrhorn, membership chairman, supervised the event with doughnuts ice cream and pop on decorated tables. A total of 167 memberships were received.
